BMU has received various designations and recognitions over the years for their outstanding commitment to providing services to the Berea Community. They have been recognized for the following achievements.

Excellence in Reliability

American Public Power Association

According to the American Public Power Association, BMU significantly exceeded the average for all US electric utilities as reported by the Energy Information Administration for reliable electric service.  BMU participates in the American Public Power Association’s e-Reliability Tracker service to track its power outages and restoration against national benchmarks.

Area Wide Optimization Program

Kentucky Division of Water

The Area-Wide Optimization Program (AWOP) is a voluntary multi-state effort in which states work together to develop and implement individual state programs to support public water systems with the optimization of their treatment processes and distribution systems. AWOP is designed to assist water systems with optimizing their physical and organizational infrastructures, without incurring capital expenses, in an effort to enhance public health protection.

Outstanding Distribution System Operations Award

American Water Works Association – Kentucky/Tennessee Section 

This award is to recognize an outstanding water distribution system operation within Kentucky/Tennessee section of the American Water Works Association. It’s awarded annually to recognize a water treatment plant for exceptional performance, dedication, and teamwork.
     Year Awarded – 2015

Outstanding Water Treatment Plant Operation Award
